Program Summary
Through the Subsidized Employment Program, WFS Capital Area covers employee wages and liability insurance for 30 to 90 days at approved worksites. AUTMHQ offers a structured rotational job experience across its departments to expose participants to technical and operational career tracks in the nonprofit tech sector.
Position Overview
The Subsidized Employment Trainee will rotate through multiple departments within AUTMHQ to gain experience and training in areas such as:
1. Information Technology & Cybersecurity
2. Program & Event Management
3. Marketing & Communications
4. Innovation Studio Operations
5. Data Management & CRM Systems
6. Human Resource Support
7. Community Engagement & Workforce Development
8. Soft skills through Harvard Business Spark Program
Each rotation will include shadowing, training, and project-based assignments under the supervision of AUTMHQ staff, aligning with the trainee’s career interests and learning goals.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Assist with daily tasks and special projects across 2–3 departments
2. Attend weekly department meetings and provide summaries or reports
3. Learn and apply technical or administrative tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Airtable, Canva, etc.)
4. Conduct research, draft documents, and assist in community programming
5. Support data entry, recordkeeping, and documentation efforts
6. Participate in internal learning labs or professional development activities
7. Communicate with team leads regularly and log hours and tasks weekly
Rotational Areas
1. Tech & Innovation: Assist with software testing, cybersecurity simulations, or tech installations
2. Workforce Programs: Help manage job board postings, career pathways, or Coursera data
3. Marketing & Events: Create flyers, assist with social media, support event setup
4. Admin & Ops: Support HR, procurement, or office organization tasks
5. Community & Outreach: Help manage partner communications or volunteer coordination
Qualifications
– Must be approved through the WFS Capital Area Subsidized Employment program
– Ages 18+, able to legally work in the U.S.
– Interest in nonprofit work, technology, or community development
– Willingness to learn, adaptable, and a self-starter
– Basic computer literacy and communication skills
– Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently or in a team
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 20–40 hours per week depending on placement
Hybrid roles may include in-person days at AUTMHQ’s offices and remote training assignments

2. Build foundational experience in tech, workforce development, or community work

4. Develop a résumé of completed projects
